New guidance for designated teachers in promoting the education  of Looked after and Post Looked After children states that

“A key part of the designated teacher’s role is ensuring that they, and other school
staff, have strong awareness, training and skills around the specific needs of
looked-after and previously looked-after children and how to support them.”

Trauma is something that many looked after and post looked after children will have experienced. This  one-day training course will look at the impact trauma and adversity has on the developing brain AND what schools can do to promote resilience and improve behaviour and outcomes for pupils. The session will also include a showing of the film ‘Resilience’. This training is appropriate for teachers, non teaching staff and governors from primary and secondary schools, specialist or alternative provisions especially where there are looked after or post looked after children
